Change in plans
Liberty Science Center, Jersey City, NJ
Hyde Park, NY (FDR National Park & Vanderbilt Mansion National Park)
The Maritime Aquarium, Norwalk, CT
Transit Museum in Brooklyn, NY (We took the Metro North train, the subway, & the bus. We visited Federal Hall and the African Burial Ground National Historic Sites in addition to the Transit Museum.)
I did get some hand work done. I have tension issues with my Featherweight (can't tighten the bobbin screws enough) & the time wasn't there to work on my list of projects. I only got the rows sewn on my rail fence.

Gonna work on UFO'S
So we are headed to New York for the whole Passover Holiday. I've packed like I'm going to a retreat.
I've packed my featherweight & verified that I can make it sew. wink. I've wound about a dozen bobbins too.
1. Double 4-patch on point.
2. Double 4-patch straight set because I made far too many blocks!
3. Chinese Lanterns variant of a courthouse steps log cabin
4. I Spy for co-workers baby due in October. (I'm gonna give a quilt gift on time!)
5. Rail Fence
6. Dresden Plate - needed to mix in some hand work.

seen at a local quilt show
I go to quilt shows to be inspired, to procrastinate with meaning, to see quilts that I will never make.
Why do you go to quilt shows? or not?

In the present
Rhapsody still lives with us, she'll be 20 next month.
Jacob had a "Model Seder" at school. We couldn't be prouder of him & his classmates.

still trying to catch-up
I'm not sure if I've caught up with all of my quilt related stuff, but I did finish a block while on a cruise. This is still a UFO. It is stalled. I love the concept, but I have some value issues...

More works in progress
Dresden Blades in progress. (Thankfully those are all sewn together. I actually got those together rather quickly.) And way back when I was bloging more regularly, I showed that half square triangle quilt in quarters - It's that big. The layout didn't quilt work out like I wanted, but... I have tied all of the intersections, now I am and quilting it using big stitch - through the light & dark lines that were created by the half square triangles.

Just some scenes from first grade (Veteran's day to be exact...)
Every time I got to school, I take some photos of the things that are posted around the classroom. (It's better than keeping all of those papers, right?)

Chess quilt, not to be confused with a Chess Pie
So the rainbow, chess, underwater loving boy of mine wanted to make a quilt.
I had the mini chess fabric because he plays the game (he has beaten the computer). I got a lot of it - it was on sale. :o)
I also had a Kona Primary solids Jelly roll, so I decided to cut the chess fabric into 2.5 inch strips so that they would work together.
We chose 2 oranges, 2 yellows, etc. I sewed them together after Jacob cut them - we were going for random.
I had some octopus fabric - not nearly enough mind you so I found some on etsy for an arm instead of an arm and a leg.
We had to top made & the back purchased in near record time, so I had the long armer quilt is as a rush so that my son would have his new quilt before the novelty of his involvement wore off.
The binding is also a rainbow. This all happened early in 2015. He also has a small stash of underwater fabrics. When I shop in a brick & mortar fabric shop I allow him to choose 1 piece & he usually chooses an underwater print. Most recently he chose a minky back. He has his lefty fabric scissors, so I guess we need to start tracing squares & get my featherweight ready for little boy fingers...

Orange & Aqua
I'm trying not to share things that I showed previously, but I'm reviewing & feeling reminiscent & sometimes deciding to share them again anyway. (Or I'm not going to back to check... Or a combination of both.)
