Do you know of a charity where I can donate fabric for a tax receipt?

Goodwill is probably your best bet.

I'm not sure if you get a tax receipt or not but here are 2 links that might help. Sarah Craig at Confessions of a Fabric Addict http://confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.com/ and she works with her ministry http://piecelovequilts.blogspot.com/

Also Margaret's Hope Chest and again I'm not sure about the tax receipt. http://margaretshopechest.com/about.html and http://margaretshopechest.blogspot.com/p/donate.html

If you are looking to donate locally and have a Good Will or Hospice Thrift Shops they give tax receipts. Some animal shelters have thrift stores in their town and give receipts for items donated to their shop.

Hope this is helpful.

Contact Margaret's Hope Chest ~ they accept fabric donations from which their volunteers make comfort quilts (and they will send a tax receipt if you let them know you want one).
