Well "F" I just remembered that using the B&W setting helps with defining value.

Luckily the value distinction is not terribly difficult for me, but I have more lights than darks, so I started to add in mediums & as a consequence started to question my "design" plans…

As I view my piles side by side there is a definite dark & a definite light pile. (The mediums are mostly in warm & cool piles.)

But the B&W setting on my iPhone was a nice reminder for the future - assuming I remember it then…

I'm going on a cruise in a couple weeks & am going to take these squares (The photo is my overfilled scrap bag) & draw the diagonal lines for half square triangle sewing when I get back.

In the meantime, I have been sewing on my Burgoyne Surrounded quilt - I hope to have that finished before we leave.

Burgoyne surrounded with dashing & cornerstones

AKA how I have spent that last several days.

Background: I have wanted to make a burgoyne surrounded quilt for a long time, but most patterns are not written for using scraps. I did not want to figure out how many pieces & what size, so I just made other quilts.

The current American Patchwork & Quilting magazine has it broken down by piece.

I love that it is 100% scrappy (some repeats, but not many.)

Not so funny - today while sewing with my mini-group I sewed all four 4-patches wrong! Luckily I realized it early & it was a fairly easy fix. :o)
