My first sampler block.

I chose this block to do first because I only have a tiny bit of the brown print. So I am doing the 4 "brown print blocks" first. I spent the longest amount of time choosing the solid. This was the last one that I tried out. I think I will continue to use brown solids with the brown prints. (& I may use brown solids elsewhere - for a cohesive element...I guess I will actually figure that out when I get that far.)

I can admit it...

I do not care for the brown prints in the second Parson Gray line Seven Wonders, but I purchased a fat quarter set. I tried to add them into one quilt already. I have only managed to add them to my scrap vomit quilts & my hexagon quilt. & yet I could not throw away the last lingering scraps. (I traded the almost fat quarters for something that I liked better - random scraps.)
& yet, I have decided to add them to my sampler. Here is how I will add this bit. The brown will be the tiny square, the green (or maybe the blue - not shown) of the same design will be the outside part with an as of yet to be determined solid.

I managed to find a few more places to add a bit of brown. I am hoping that by using them with their counterpart in design that it will all work out. (They will only be in 3 or 4 blocks.)

The old reader - updated now that I have used it for a while.

1. I like it on my MAC.
2. I did not like it on my PC using Internet Explorer, but it works fine using firefox. So while I do not recall who asked me about the old reader, I no longer have the PC complaint that I had previously...

I have flagged the pages in my sampler book of the blocks that I want to do. Now to count them & hopefully have something close to 60 selected... Then i will need to draft my alphabet letters - they are 8 inches finished, the block in the book are 6 inches finished.

I am in 2 flickr groups that are sewing these blocks... I am almost motivated enough to piece one right now, but I need a nap after my workout. Can you tell my cat to come lie down on my lap? (Oh & my husband just went to pick up my son, so a few SHHHHH's are in order too.)

we don't watch TV, so my son has not seen the horror that is shown on the news or other wise. But when he is made aware this is what I hope to remember to tell him. Thanks again Mr. Rogers, we still miss you.

Road trip tomorrow - After taking Amtrak down to S. Carolina...

We are going to drive my in-Laws car from S. Carolina to Maryland...

We can either be boring & predictable and stick to the 95 corridor, or head west then north visiting Mary Jo's & then driving through the Appalachian Mountains to Maryland...

Jacob suggested that we should go to South Carolina or North Carolina - if he only knew what was in store for him tomorrow.

My 4 year old wants to go to "I-owa." (With a short I. Too cute.)

I've made some more spider webs, here are 8 of them.

for those of paying attention, yes, I did cut into that pile of fabric. & I have purchased a couple more charm packs that I cut into post haste.

I eve got one of those new hexagon charm packs - I won't be doing that again. They are twice as expensive as the squares & while I can get one 3.5 inch square from either, I can only get two 2.5 inch squares with a lot of waste or two strips for this quilt.

Its official, I have switched to "the old reader."

When I first imported, there were 14,000 people in front of me, but 2-3 days later & I got this:
We are happy to inform you that we have finished importing your subscriptions.
177 feeds you imported should now be available at http://theoldreader.com/.
Thank you for using The Old Reader.

So far it is a lot like google reader. I can scroll & read - what I want/need.

After my spin class this morning (Jacob's swim class was cancelled) we are going to see the cherry blossoms. So get ready for the pictures. (I am going to bring my camera too, but...)

This is where she goes overboard cutting more scraps for the spider web.

I made 98 triangles & cherry picked my favorite scraps.
Then I did the math to see how many triangles I need. I need 208 triangles including 16 with only 1/2 pieced for the border - where I want 4 finished pieced webs. So I need to piece 110 more triangles. I average 10 scraps per triangles...
Luckily when I fist started to piece triangles I thought that I had too many scraps prepared. So I do have a lot, but...

I'm kind of justifying adding in the Shelbourne Falls - it's green & the Chicopee green are similar & Chicopee is already in there. & I think the other prints in this picture are only in there once, where I have other prints in there 4 & 5 times...

I'm from the old school of scrap quilting, where everyone needs a friend so that so one becomes the center of attention.

Ready to trip my next batch of spider web triangles.

Ready to trip my next batch of spider web triangles.

My to do list is a mile long, but at the top was baking cookies for our cherry blossom picnic.
