Cranberry sauce

Cranberry sauce by aviva_hadas (Amy)

the standard back of the bag recipe plus a stick of cinnamon.

It feels good to have some Thanksgiving & Hanukkah cooking out of the way.

We ordered the birthday cake, so that is one less thing to worry about too.

Too bad Jacob is not interested in chicken nuggets… He wants fish… I guess I could make fish sticks instead.

Do you make home made applesauce?

I do, in the oven. I don't generally like to brag, but this stuff is so YUMMY!

I added a couple cranberries for Thanksgivukkah, but my secret ingredient is nutmeg.

There are so few cranberries, that you just get a tart bite here & there or you can miss them all together (almost) & they add a bit of pink color - but so did the black twig apples. :o)

I need to get this in writing

Last week sometime, Jacob was looking over my shoulder while I was looking at Thanksgiving recipes. (I tend to make the same things the same way, but I also search for new stuff.) Anyway I was looking at the stuffing recipe on do it delicious & Jacob asked, "What is the green stuff?" I said, "Parsley." He saiud, "Oh, Passover lettuce." Made me smile...

I also need to do a bit of meal planning here & Thanksgiving planning/prep. (I'll throw in a birthday & Hanukkah because we don't have enough on our plates already.)

Another Scrap Vomit

100% done! You may recall that I am working through a series of these following the rainbow. All of them are at least top stage. This is the 3rd that is 100% done. (2 more are awaiting long arming, the others are awaiting backs - repurposed tops? I don't know yet.)

Everything including the kitchen sink!
You knew there had to be a cat, right?
The main block is a diamond, the alternating block is a 7x7 scraps block.
Love that Nanny Bee, the whole scrap vomit project waited for this fabric to arrive. :o) Yes, I make scraps to use in my scrap quilts.
The back a super soft scrumptious flannel & you can see the fun squares quilting here too.

Just waiting for her momma to return.

Before my trip to Houston, this one was content to stay in one of her many hiding places - the linen closet, a box, on her quilt near the sliding glass door, etc.

After Houston she has been my almost constant companion.

What is the lesson to be learned here & who shall learn it?

yardage from Houston

On my list of things to get at Houston was a large piece of "Taupe" background fabric. (Taupe describes the type of Japanese Fabric, not the color.) I thought "light" but this was such a good background that I went with my gut & got the dark too. I'm glad, whats left of my already cut 5 inch squares are rather light. This pile of fabric will be a "Round & Round" quilt - pattern by Thimbleblossoms.

I could have made the light work, but I would have had to cut yardage & fat quarters - so I am glad that I got the dark.

I have to admit that I am not 100% sure why I had so many light 5 inch squares cut… (Some of the lightest ones were in a different finished quilt - that also has the medium squares.) My darks are depleted because my "Number the Stars" quilt was made using scrappy darks for the background.
