Which would you choose to use with Florence by Denyse Schmidt?

Hey, using a pattern that I own, now there is a novel idea!

Florence is a fabric line that is pretty much evenly distributed between cools & warms. (Not that I think that makes a difference between these patterns.)

But, if you have a different idea for a fabric collection that is pretty much divided between warm & cool, I'm all ears.

The fair

Last week I mentioned that I was going to enter my county fair. Today was the day that we went to see the fair. We met Carla there & had a pretty good time walking around.

She off handedly asked who could enter (If I remember correctly). Any resident of Montgomery county or one of the adjoining counties (Howard, Carroll, Frederick, Prince George's) and the District of Columbia can enter in the Home Arts division (I did not check to see if the rules were different for rabbits, etc. See for more information. BTW the fair goes until August 17th.

For my most favored quilt, I got a 3rd place ribbon:
Since I am back in like with my Taupes (still need to change the blade in my rotary cutter to get going on the next one, ahem) I entered this one & got 2nd place:
For the fans of irony, I spent far too much time attaching hanging sleeves on those two & they ended up folded on a table.
& saving the best for last, this one got a first place ribbon & a special award:
Three entries, three ribbons (four actually).

I chose green

I chose green by aviva_hadas (Amy)
I chose green, a photo by aviva_hadas (Amy) on Flickr.

Background: I went to a quilt show yesterday & purchased a really cool tool that helps get your seams really flat & that gave me a 25% coupon at the store.

We went to the fair today, which put us 1/2 way if not closer to the store, which happened to be open this Sunday. So I decided to see what they might have.

Not a whole lot that spoke to me in general. (They had the green version, but I would have liked to orange, or I did not care for it at all kind of scenario.)

But they did have some solids (mixed in - which was not my preferred way to shop for them) & after looking at these Briar Rose fat quarters with an orange, a yellow, & a blue, I chose this green. It is by Timeless Treasures, I did not catch the name, but it is grassy & it was 25% off.

For what it is worth, I liked them with the Periwinkle, but in the photo that was not "true."

Now to cut more squares that I care to think about. (The pattern is linked in the post with the Kona Banana as the background.)

While planing...

Working on a UFO by aviva_hadas (Amy)

While planning a new quilt, I decided to try to make some headway on a UFO.

This is the very pink scrap vomit - but not too pink, right?

Some of my "pink" scraps are very minimal in their pinkness & many of them would never have been considered pink in their own right, but I wanted that subtlety & nuance evidenced in this very pink quilt.

There are pinks in my others too - so it is not like all of the pinks landed here.

After I finish with the pink, I will do the green. That one is all novelties. :o)

The final 3, red, orange, & yellow are a mix of everything pink, novelty & others.

What about Periwinkle?

Briar rose and Lorna periwinkle yes or no

I think the second one is the better color wise...

A couple people thought that purple, lavender,  or sky blue - I happen to have some Periwinkle, so... Is it a go or should I keep trying?

Advice needed...

I want to do a Sparkle Punch quilt. The fat quarters are my main prints  for the stars (I will be adding some more go withs.) & below are a couple photographs where I am auditioning a background print - Kona Banana.

Yes or no for the background, it's lona banana with Briar Rose by Heather Ross.

Here is the yellow print on the banana.

Here is the yellow toned clover on the banana.

Sorry about the lighting, the background fabric is the same. (I'm wondering if I need a brighter yellow or a different color all together - Maybe that BLUE that is in two of the "calico" prints, not the water blue.)
