In that actual top, there are a lot more blocks (20 or 30) so it is big enough without the border.
This will be for a baby boy due in July. My husband's friend from high school is expecting her first - at 42!

That is going to be a cute quilt! I think it would look good with a narrow gray border and a black binding.
I love it! In the past, borders were used to make a quilt larger without the extra work of more blocks. But if you have lots of them, I would do it without a border. That seems to be the style now.
that border doesn't do anything for me; if it were mine, i'd go for a primary color to make the individual blocks pop a little; perhaps a black/white checkerboard or black/red checkerboard? don't know but that color doesn't do anything for it i think...just my 2 cents..for those gorgeous blocks, need something that complements them more...
