Just a random cat quilt photo
that I hope I have not shared before...
(I think there were about 40 differently colored threads in the fur...)

The doctor is in...
Ahem, he stuffs as many goodies as possible into that bag. old cell phones (plural) cat toys, rubber duckies, Mr. Potatohead's glasses, & the stuff that came in the bag.
At day care, he carries a differnt bag, that is also stuffed with goodies. (Oh & he transitioned to the 3 year old room - what happened to my baby?)

He's addicted...
DSCF5144 a video by aviva_hadas on Flickr.
I have 3 brands on my shelf.
He has to have a minimum of two. (I stop him at two because he only has two lips.)
He climbed up to my shelf to help himself...
Wait a minute, I need to get some lip balm... (There is always one at the ready or I get twitchy.)
Top in progress
It is officially easier to move a cat than a toddler...
Yes, those are Mr. Potatohead's glasses.
top in progress
Well I finished this top & then realized that it is too long. Seriously.
So I removed 4 rows & while it wasn't "too narrow" it could "take" an extra column or two - so I took apart the rows & am in the process of turning them into columns.
I had pieced the back previously, so I knew how much real estate I had to work with. (roughly 108 x 120 - minus some space for the long armer.)
This is pretty much the look that I was going for - light.
(Oh & for the record, the photo depicts 2 sections out of 8 - each section composed of 4 rows, each of which is composed of 16 columns.)
The piecing is random, the pattern is by Weeks Ringle & Bill Kerr of Funquilts & is in their book, The Modern Quilt Workshop. I would never hesitate to suggest adding that one to your quilt book library.

He helps with the mundane chores too. (& miracle of miracles, I remembered to stop pinning in time!)

My little helper.
We are surviving Irene. We still have electricity & so far it just feels like a rain storm.
Husband went to CVS earlier - he was not alone. :o)
Which is just as well, because I was not alone as I sewed.

Turtle lover
DSCF4913 a video by aviva_hadas on Flickr.
This one loves turtles. (But I may have said that before.)
bird call
DSCF4923 a video by aviva_hadas on Flickr.
I tried & tried & tried to capture this & then I did & failed to share it earlier. :o(
Did I share this?
DSCF4944 a video by aviva_hadas on Flickr.
There was an apparent school group watching this, they made such a noise, that we went in the out door to see what was happening.

Yes, my little sleeper is holding onto "Bunny."
I don't see him in this state often. I am at the office before he wakes most days, & on the weekends, he is "up" when we enter his room.
The gray "friend" under the kitty book is his stuffed cat. (The one that is always "there." The kitty stays in the car when we got into a restaurant & the kitty stays in his backpack at school... But the kitty gets his teeth brushed first.)
The flash did not wake him... (& I got a second shot after this one.) But the mommy kisses did.

Meat Sauce, It's What's for dinner.
2 lb. ground meat (I use turkey)
2 large onions, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (28 oz.) crushed tomatoes (I use Muir Glen)
16 oz. can tomato sauce (I use Muir Glen)
2 Tbsp. mixed italian spices
salt & pepper to taste. (I don't add any, I add crushed pepper flakes at the table to my own)
brown meat & onions, add garlic once the meat is no longer pink & the onions are soft. Add the tomatoes & spices, stir & simmer on low heat. (Until heated through or as long as you wish) serve over your favorite pasta. Freeze the leftovers.
working from home
Working from home today - & I have help.
No, not a direct result of the earthquake. (Thanks again to all who checked in on us) They let us out at 2:30 - I get off at 2:30 anyway. Yes, I have that kind of luck.
At about 5, we had a brown out, by 9:30 we lost all of out electricity. So no hot water in the a.m., so no going into the office. (Electric & hot water have been restored, but...)

Oatmeal Toffee Chip
I baked these on Friday for my sew-n-tell meeting on Sunday. Between noshing over the weekend, sew-n-tell & lunches this week, they are all gone!

Pets on Quilts Parade
SewCalGal is hosting this one.
(I am such a joiner - for this one I blame Hetty.)
On a finished I SPY.
On an I SPY that just needs it's binding done. (Any volunteers?)
On a UFO - yes it still is a UFO & I have no idea why.
On my French General Quilt.
On an all batik quilt. (I'm not into batiks anymore, so I can't say that very much.) Yes, he is a very patient cat, my son was 8 months old in that photo.
I hope there wasn't a photo limit... (I have more!)
It's been a while since I blogged in blogger - some funny mishaps happened on the way to "Publish Post" I'll leave them to your imagination.
fair quilt
This one is so sweet & subtle, I almost want to make one - remind me about my UFO pile before I start it...
fair quilt
Need an idea on how to use your stripes?
I have some stripes, but I am thinking about doing a different Kaffe inspired quilt with them.

fair quilt
Tribute to the Battle of Gettysburg. If I did a Dear Jane style quilt, this would be the result...
(I'm not "into" samplers, so no worries about me starting a new project.)

quilt show
One of the miniatures. This was hte first quilt that I looked at & I knew that I would like the show after seeing it.
This is also the lst of the quilt show quilt photos. (I will have fairly horrible fair quilt photos to share. Quilts are not displayed nicely at fairs & the one that we just went to had them behind plastic = horrible. Just in case anyone thought I was using that adjective to describe the quilts.)
quilt show
(I think this one did really well in Knoxville... I did not go to Knoxville, so that statement is reliant on my faulty memory.)
quilt show
As you can see this one won a ribbon...
Ever since I started quilting some dozen or so years ago, I have wanted to piece a quilt & add an applique border.
More often than not recently, I have been eliminating borders instead... I guess I have to wait for the pendulum to swing back.

quilt show
This one was made by one of my favorite quilters.
I made a set of her quilts... She has done others that are not in this set.

I like this one too - so much so that I took about 30 photos of it!
I think this link will take you to the set...

A detail shot from my favorite. (The red circles were appliqued. There were other clusters, not just these faces.)

Ya'll knew I went to a quilt show, right? Here is the Best in Show. I'll share more tomorrow.

Cat bathing - not for the weak...
When he slipped, he got me real good. (I have a bandage on my wrist as a testament) On Thursday, I will wait for my husband to get home first. - 4 hands are better than two (Especially when one of those is manning the camera - yes, I am an idiot.)
The Rx shampoo has an ingredient that is supposed to help with his "scabs" - he has allergies & the "hives" on a cat are like scabs, that flake off - with the fur, so he is generally far from pretty.
(For the first month, we have to bathe him twice a week. You have ot let the shampoo set for 5 to 10 minutes...)
After I dried him off, he still came over to cuddle with me under my quilt...
(Does that mean I am forgiven?)
FYI If Thursday does not go so well, the vet will do the shampoo job for about $21... (That might end up being the best $21 spent...)

Museum of Natural History
We went to see the dinosaurs. (& My husband's friend from high school, who was in town for a rally.)
The museum was sensory overload for the toddler. So much to see so close.
