Ya know what else, I have strong memories of a metal saltines box - I would start to save UPC codes if I could get one of those boxes...

Even though I prefer the "generic" brand of whole wheat soda crackers over the national brand of my youth.

Chicken & mushroom soup may be on tonight's menu...

Love those band aid boxes! I wish they still made them.

Oh, yes, I remember! I'd so love to have one of those metal saltine boxes today.

My mom used the band-aid cans to hold things like nails, screws, hooks, etc. in our utility room and I have several of those cans still. We also had the cracker cans. My mom had a number of them and she painted them a pinkish color and labeled them and used them for canisters for many years. I still have one of the painted ones and at least one unpainted.

Yes! I have memories of those metal boxes. But I wouldn't say they were fond memories. I like the recyclable cardboard much better. But I do have a tin which I bought one time with saltine crackers in it. I use it over and over to keep my crackers fresh.

Man do I miss those metal boxes. And I could just *kick* myself for not holding on to at least one. The last one went into the trash before I realized that crummy cardboard was my only purchasing option.
I don't really recall crackers in tins, but I do remember with a LOT of fondness a particular brand of marshmallows that came in a box. The brand can still be found . . . but not in a box.

I had forgotten the tin band aid boxes! How much more practical would they be? especially if you could just get a refill pack for them.

Well, I have a metal saltines box...and perhaps I'll blog about my once pristine metal pail that was DH's grandmothers....You see the word ONCE.

I have a couple of cracker metal boxes and I still use them to keep crackers in. I wish I had the band aid boxes - they were a great size to hold stuff.

I think I have a couple of those metal bandaid boxes around here. Thanks for jogging my memory.

I have the metal saltine can. Stuffed in the storage unit, in all likelihood.

As for the bandaid cans ... I keep my Altoid boxes for all of the small stuff. They work great for a travel first aid kit, a small sewing box, and noise maker for busy hands! (Great g'daughter.)

I'm pretty sure you can still get bandaids in the metal box. Ours are in the metal box, and they're not very old.
