I liked this pattern in every iteration that I saw - you can see the edge of one that used a white on black print for the background without the pieced border...
The more I think about it, I like the simplicity & the black & bright colors.
I really like the "float" & the border on this version. But boy do you have to be or close to perfect for that border to work...

Those colors are striking! And you're right about that border, it take some concentration and thought that I just don't have right now.....LOL
Judy at Patchwork Times has been posting about borders. If I remember correctly, she says to make them fit, you have to make the top a multiple of the block size. So, it sounds like there is some math and prior planning involved ;-)

hint for borders like that make most of the blocks for the border and then scatter in the border a few that are maybe 1/8th of an inch up to a 1/4th of an inche larger or smaller to make the border fit
it won't be noticeable :) especially after the quilt is quilted.
