My Halloween Quilt

My Halloween Quilt

I am posting this today, because I am wondering, how many of you have made or plan to make more than one "holiday" quilt?

I purchased halloween prints for the cats 90% of the time, not because I am a fan of halloween, so I don't really have a desire to make another one... As it is, I bought 1/2 yard pieces. This pattern is roughly Yellow Brick Road a pattern by Atkinson Designs that uses fat quarters - I got some non-cat prints from a girlfriend. I gave her most of my scraps in return, including a second top. (That one had a scary print - I am definately not a fan of the scary stuff.)

This quilt is on my couch now for fall decoration. Not that I am a decorator... The more I think about it, no one in my family is a decorator. In all the houses I can think of, you put your stuff "up" & there you go, there was not changing for the seasons or holidays.
Maybe that is why I am not yearning to make another Halloween quilt...

Speaking of buying fabric, I went to a JoAnn's Etc. this weekend & walked out empty handed... (They did not have the batt that I wanted & after looking at the bolts, I was only holding one, so I passed on it.)

I find it very easy to walk away from Joann's empty handed these days. They no longer carry Warm & Natural in bags and that was the easiest way for me to purchase and store. The new stuff they have bagged is horrible. I do still use the coupon to buy W&N off the bolt and magazines.

I have only one Halloween themed quilt and am making one for each of my son's families but that would be it for me. I have lots of fall stuff and I will probably continue to add quilts for that seasonal decor. I love autumn.

I haven't been into JoAnns since early summer. Just don't need anything -- I already have it all!! :(

Halloween quilts: my pumpkins are coming along. I'm just the opposite of you, lots of holiday stuff I change in and out. It does get to be a lot of work. And a lot to store.

I've never made a Halloween quilt, although I do have one with leaves that I guess I could get out and drape on a sofa for decoration. Like you, I don't do much seasonal stuff. I saw so much of that when I was teaching and selling at craft shows that I have no interest any more.

I don't really decorate for too many holidays. I like using doll quilt sized quilts for seasonal stuff because they are much easier to store between holidays. I do have several Christmas quilts and I do decorate for Christmas but most of the rest I just change out small quilts on the walls and tables.

I love the idea of having quilts for the various holidays - although right now, I only have a Christmas one that is really for a particular holiday. I did make a fall table runner for this year and in the process of making a Thanksgiving Wall Hanging to go over my fireplace. Hopefully have pictures to show soon.

I fell hard this year into the Halloween quilt well . . . after resisting in previous years because the season is just too short, I couldn't take it any longer. Still nothing particularly Thanksgiving in nature - but the Christmas quilts are abundant *s*

Oddly enough, I am making a Hallowe'en quilt - I say oddly, because I'm not normally a holiday quilt kind of girl. Of course, the quilt I am making is not for me, so I guess that explains it. Obviously, I'm not a big shopper in JoAnn's, so I can't comment about that...

I like your quilt. I am SO a HUGE Halloween friend. This will be the first time in along time that we are not having a party.

Its still so warm here that I haven't thought of changing the quilts for fall ones yet. My Halloween thing is cupcakes with orange icing :)

I like your Halloween quilt, it looks festive. JoAnn's. I ordered a huge roll of Warm and Natural batting from them this summer. Less expensive than by the bag, and muslin. That's it.

I used to do a lot of seasonal decorating for my kids. Now I'm too busy quilting!

I'm like Jeanne, I have lots of holiday stuff. It took me most of the day Friday to decorate for Halloween. I hung quilts and added all of my little decorations that went along with it all.

I don't care for scary stuff. My things are mostly pumpkins, cute little ghosts, and black cats.

I decorate more for the season than the holiday. I usually put the Autumn stuff out in Sept, & leave it up until Thanksgiving, then I switch to "winter' decorations & quilts. 4 x a year is enough change for me!

I don't think Broccoli has gained weght, just winter fur! We have snow here now!

I am part of a Halloween exchange so I got stuff to make as gifts.

I am more of a seasons girl than holiday ... and then it is usually just the towels or such as I don't have many quilty things.

Cute quilt nonetheless.

I hope to make a christmas quilt this year to keep. last year I made one (in the happy hour pattern) and I gave it to a friend of mine. I may have to do a repeat for me. my LQS has more of the fabric in (which is unheard of!!!) so it must be meant to be.
