What kind of person are you?

I am an early person.... (most of the time - I can procrastinate with the best of them, like the homework that I will dutifully attend to this evening)

Which brings me to this past weekends activities...

In two weeks, I will have been married for 1 year. Can you guess what we just did?

OUR TAXES!

Such a pain as a couple & eye opening. We got somethings as a couple that we would not have gotten as singletons & Some of those things that I took for granted as getting as a singleton, I could not longer get becasue of a "cap." What the heck, it is not like we are millionaires trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip. But if as a single you can deduct up to $2,500, why then as a married can't you deduct up to $5,000?

We also got advice (which we acted upon right away) for next year...

Not so much fun, but it is done....

Boy does that bring back bad memories! I have a masters in Finance and my DH could just not let go...we ended up going to a tax advisor so he could tell him everything I had told him!!! You're lucky to be done with it...congrats.

IF David remembers to bring me his W-2 tonight I want to get ours done and out of the way. I probably won't actually MAIL it until the 1st week of April but it'll at least be done.

Our taxes have been done for two weeks already - it helps that we only have to wait for one w2 - and that is usually out around january 20th. We always get ours done first chance we get (generally the day after the w2s come out).

EEeeewwwwww! It has to feel good to have that done. We actually procrastinated getting married because it seemed like marrieds were being penalized - what a bum deal!

Just wanted to say that the quilts look great and thanks for showing us around your living room. There's nothing fun about doing taxes, but I bet you're glad that it's over for the year.

Happy Anniversary -- way better than taxes *s*

Yeah I could go on and on about taxes. I think they should be a simple percentage of your income. Period, no complicated calculations, no deductions, etc.
Glad your taxes are done now, and happy anniversary. Hope you are getting a refund, so you can splurge.

The best purchase we've made lately was TurboTax. Happy Anniversary in advance!

great job getting the taxes done already... I always wait and frantically plug everything into turbo tax around April 1st...

Amy, can't believe it's been almost a year already. Happy Anniversary!

Seems like just when I think I've about figured out how to minimize the tax bill, things change and I always feel like I'm in the dark. Ours will be crazy this year because we'll still be using the CPA in KY and having to answer all her questions long distance.

Feels good to have it all done, though, huh?

Taxes, yuk! We had to pay this year and it's not fun. We're going on 27 years. You 2 are way ahead of us in the fun department though, we didn't take a cruise until we were married for 20 years! Our anniversary trip. We brought our 2 teenage girls. We use the old Turbo Tax. Bob's mom was a tax acct for 22 years, thinks that works fine-but, we don't have anything complicated, like a business.

Happy Anniversary! Wow, you're just a honeymooner! In May, we'll celebrate 5 years married. Yes, tax time is "taxing". (I crack myself up, too!) But now that I don't have a house, it's lots easier. We do the Tax Cut thing, but for years I had my little old cpa man. After we got married, hubby began to do our taxes. It was hard to let Mr. CPA go.
We did ours Monday.

I know... the marriage PENALTY. I can't believe you are coming up on your 1st anniversary. Seems like yesterday you were still making plans. Congratulations!
