Just another day in paradise

First to finish an thought that I started in my blog yesterday - about the American Crime Dramas - it seems that Australia imports a lot of American TV.... (CSI, Desperate Housewives, etc.)

Now for more of our saga...

Here we are onboard the Reef Endeavour (Captain Cook Cruises) that is Cairns in the background. (The town part of Carins is on the other side of the boat...) The ship/boat at capacity can probably accomodate about 200 passengers. We had 35 on our cruise, a little low according to the captain for that time of year... but it worked out for the best for us. We got to do more because time was not wasted doing 2 or more trips from the ship to shore as it would have been if there were more passengers. (The glass bottom boat that ferried us about could hold about 40 people.)
Our cabin/room was on the lowest level sold to passengers - which was probably a good thing considering the amout of rocking we felt the first night. We had a pair of port holes & our door opened onto an inside hall way. The rooms above us were the same except that they had bigger windows - with blinds that made a lot of noise during the rocking and doors that opened on the outside = no balconies. This was our first cruise & we did not know any better - we spent a lot of time outside of our room anyway. (no photos - I don't take hotel room photos, buffet photos, or view from the room photos...) The breakfast buffet was very similar to the one on the hotel sans the Japanese breakfast foods. However, inlieu of the beans one morning they offered spaghetti - the kind from a can - think Chef Boy-ar-Dee! I passed on the spaghetti too. The lunches and dinners on the cruise were all nice too. Michael & I generally chose the fish dishes and ate a lot of new fishies, one even tasted like chicken. (Too bad I can't remember their names. Once we were back in Cairns, we ate Barramundi - we had that fish a lot - in Sydney & in Melbourne...)

Tomorrow I will tell you about our first stop: Green Island. I will leave you with another flower photo. (I love to take pictures of flowers with my new camera - she is smart enough to focus on the right parts!) or not, blogger is not playing nice again....

What a great trip! Thanks for sharing. The spagetti o's is a hoot! When I was a kid we visited relatives in Ireland and they served it as an appitizer. They thought they were doing us a favor...seems that's what they thought Americans liked!!

Hi Amy and Michael! Happy smiles!

How did you do on the cruise? I'm not much of a boat person :(
